The Most Wonderful Body Therapy Experience - WATSU

Happy New Year!

I hope everybody had a Merry Christmas celebrating with friends and family.  Hoping JOY, PEACE, LOVE and ABUNDANCE into your lives for 2012 and for the years to come!!!

I have to share with you the most wonderful body therapy experience I've ever had in my life!  It's called: WATSU - aquatic body work.

"Watsu Aquatic Bodywork embraces the therapeutic value of a warm water environment – taking full advantage of its natural healing properties. During a Watsu you experience secure support, effortless movement, and the gentle resistance of warm water.

In water, without the restrictions of gravity or the physical limitations of solid surfaces, your body has the freedom to move in ways impossible to duplicate on land. As tight muscles release and thoughts slow down, you become deeply relaxed.

Watsu is based on the healing principles of Zen Shiatsu. This ancient Japanese practice uses pressure points, stretches, and gentle twists to balance energy in the body. Flowing movements and soothing bodywork are woven into a healing "dance" as you are floated, stretched, and cradled in warm water."

I believe that some things happen in life for a reason without not necessarily knowing why at first.  On the 12th of December I locked my keys in my Tundra when I was at Whole Foods after Pilates.  I didn't realize it until I went to check out.  Funny thing is my father added me to their AAA plan just the week before so I called and got it arranged for them to come unlock my door.  :)  I stood and waited for awhile and then asked if they had somewhere to sit down being that I wasn't very familiar with the Tulsa store.  So I sat in their lunch/coffee area by the window and looked out waiting for the guy to arrive.

Tracy, a friend of mine that I had not seen since 1999, just happened to be going out the door by my table.  I called her name and we got to visit for a few minutes.  She's learning massage and needed new people to work on so we exchanged our business cards.  I received an excellent massage from Tracy and her instructor Rick on Monday and learned of WATSU that same day.  Rick said that we  should try WATSU and so we both received a free session Wednesday night.

It was simply beautiful!  To have the freedom and movement in the water, to have someone guiding you through each movement and then the rest of your body following along.  At one moment I felt I was dancing and another I wasn't thinking about anything but just allowing my body to move with the flow of the water.  I felt my spine adjust and tight muscles release.  The relaxing music added to the entire experience as well!  I think everyone should experience WATSU!  I simply don't know how to describe any better than it was beautiful, relaxing, freeing, liberating, peaceful, comforting, etc...  If you feel you may not be comfortable with someone holding you in the water, then ask if you can come watch a session first.

To learn more about WATSU:

WABA – WORLDWIDE AQUATIC
BODYWORK ASSOCIATION
National certification as a Watsu practitioner requires 550 hours of technical aquatic training. Also required for certification are classes in Zen Shiatsu, anatomy, physiology, principles of body mechanics and movement, and professional ethics. For more information visit: www.watsu.com

If you are in the Tulsa area contact Rick Muratet at 918.629.2167.  He works out of the Siegfried Health Club at St. John Medical Center-1819 E. 19th St., Tulsa, OK.  His fee is $65.00 per hour.  I have a pdf file of his brochure that I can forward as well.  It was nice to be there again as my last position at St. John was in 1993 at the health club in Therapeutic Exercise Services.

My situation is not ideal at this time but I am open to giving and receiving what is out there!  In a previous blog I had mentioned I'm not quite sure what I'm going to create with my situation.  One is the benefit of spending more time with my family.  The other is that I'm working with Karen at Total Pilates in Brookside once a week and she's been great!  Because I locked my keys in my truck that day, it allowed the time for me to hang out at Whole Foods and run into Tracy.  If Pilates had not happend that day I would not have been at Whole Foods.  I'm sure you're getting the picture.  So now I've re-kindled an old friendship, made a new friend and experienced WATSU.  So I feel amazing and have a smile on my face and am grateful for the blessings in my life!

Regardless of your circumstances are you OPEN to giving and receiving goodness into your life?

Much Love to you all,
Robin

Acorn Squash and Mango Soup

ACORN SQUASH and MANGO SOUP
Serves: 7
Ingredients:
1 Tbs Organic Coconut Oil (may add more if needed)
2 Acorn Squash
2 Mangos peeled and cut in strips and then smaller pieces
1/2 organic onion (or whole onion)
5 organic celery stocks
5 organic carrots
4 cups organic vegetable broth
1/4 - 1/2 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
2 cloves of garlic
Season to taste with:
celtic sea salt (light gray) can be purchased at a health food store
     pepper
     chili powder
     garlic powder
     paprika
     cinnamon

Cut acorn squash in half and set seeds aside.  Place on a baking sheet flesh side down and cook for 30 minutes on 375.  Melt 1 Tbs organic coconut oil in soup pot.  Place chopped: onion, celery, carrots & mangos in pot until onion is translucent.  While veggies are sauteing put spices in according to taste except for cinnamon.  Pour vegetable broth over veggies and let simmer for 20 minutes after coming to a boil.

Remove squash from oven and scrape out of shell.  Place in pot and cook for an additional 5 minutes.  Using a slotted spoon remove contents a little at a time from pot and place in blender until smooth & poor back into pot. (This will take 4 - 5 times)  It's ok to have some pieces that did not get ground up.  Pour in 1/2 cup of filtered water in mixture if too thick.  Add cinnamon to taste.  If you desire creaminess, pour 1/4 cup + almond milk into soup gradually.

To roast the seeds:  Rinse the seeds and allow them to dry. You can pat them dry but I find that allowing them to dry naturally makes the roasting better. On a parchment-lined baking pan, spread the seeds out. Sprinkle with celtic sea salt and drizzle with coconut oil or butter.  Bake at 350° for 10 min or until they begin to brown or become fragrant.

To serve, pour soup into bowl.  I put 2 small scoops of heated organic black beans for extra protein in the middle of the bowl and garnished with the roasted seeds and sliced pear.  Most people may not want to eat the shells but it doesn't bother me.

A nice wine pairing would be Pinot Grigio to bring out the crispness of the pear and mango.

Enjoy!

Note:  I choose to cook with organic coconut oil because when heated it does not oxidize and turn into free radicals which can damage your body.  I love organic extra virgin olive oil but only use it for salads and dipping bread because it will oxidize when heated.

HAPPY FALL
Much Love,
Robin

With FALL comes Change

Fall is my favorite season of the year although it never really last very long in CO as the snow comes early.  What does Fall represent to you?  I like the warmth of vibrant colors of  leaves and the crispness in the air.  Time to pull out your favorite sweater, go on walks on trails with fallen leaves, eat apple crisp and watch football!

Fall has also been a time of change for me.  In October of 1999 I left OK pulling a u-haul trailer behind my Mercury Cougar and headed to CO excited to what was ahead of me.  I grew up going to the mountains of CO for one week every August with my church youth group and it was called 'Youth Quake'.  It started in 1978 and they are still going every year.  Youth Quake and CO really made an impact on me and I felt more alive in the trees and the mountains than anywhere else.  For those of you that know me understand that I love cruises for the fun, food, adventure and the beauty of the ocean but my heart remains true to CO.

On Nov. 4th I left CO and moved back to OK into my parents home due to not being able to find full time work.  12 years is a long time to live in a place where I always wanted to be but didn't get to for various reasons until I was 31.  I finally got there!  To come back was not a part of the plan except for visits to see my family.  So it's rather obvious to everyone around me that I'm facing this with much resistance.

I am the only one that can change my outlook on my situation.  What can I create from this?  I'm not quite sure yet... BUT I do know that I first have to start with the attitude of gratitude.  I am thankful that I have parents that love me and took me back into their home as an adult.  I'm also thankful that I get to spend more time with them and my extended family.  Although not all of my experiences in CO were great I am thankful for the people that I met that impacted my life and for the opportunities I had.  How many people get to live in a ski town for 10 years at over 8,000 feet?

If you've read/watched my previous blogs you'll see me in the garden in Fort Collins.  I got to garden for the first time in my adult life!  I was introduced to Klemmer and Associates via a Bible study in which I met so many amazing people!  I was in a wonderful neighborhood in Fort Collins that really made me feel welcomed.  (I miss you guys!)  I got great care at Big Toe Pilate's Studio and Spine Correction Center of the Rockies while in Fort Collins, Dr. Joel Berenbeim, D.O. in Denver over the last 9 years, David Siegfried @ Moutainland Physical Therapy in Granby & Kami Filiatrault for massage and Pilates in Winter Park.  I had a great team and I am so thankful for your care!

We go through different seasons in life sometimes not understanding why they have to end and new ones begin.  I am asking for your prayers during this transition.  I am excited about my future and a little scared at the same time.  I'm still looking for jobs in the FC and Denver areas and have started looking in the Tulsa area since I'm living in Owasso now.

I've attached some pictures from my fall harvest!  Tomorrow I will post a recipe for Acorn Squash and Mango soup.  It turned out great!

Much Love,
Robin

Where's my TOYS??

If you own a dog then you'll understand how crazy we can be about our four legged friends! They are family. They are pure joy and offer unconditional love...  So, I have to admit that I talk kind of different to Cheyenne at times but it's all in fun.  According to Caeser they're not supposed to be like children but if you've never had a child, well...

Today Miss Cheyenne got a bath. All of her bedding and toys got washed as well. She always watches me with such intent as I'm gathering them all up. She sees them going in the washer and into the dryer. Today she stood outside the door for awhile as if she was keeping watch. I told her to go on downstairs.

No kidding. As soon as the dryer stopped she ran upstairs and stood by the door again. I normally don't pay attention but today she got me so I decided to have a little fun with her.  Check out the pics below and I've also attached a short video as well.  I hope she brings a smile to your face!!!  She is such a good girl!

Much Love,

Robin & Cheyenne

The Power of Kindness

I hope that you were able to watch some of the memorial ceremonies for 9/11.  I watched the Shankville, PA memorial over the Internet on Saturday.  It was wonderful...  I got up early to watch the program with Brian Williams on Sunday morning in NY, the Pentagon and PA.  All were very moving.

Do you remember 10 years ago how people were towards each other after 9/11?  They wanted to help more, be a better neighbor, daughter, son, brother, sister, husband, wife and friend.  People pulled together to help one another.  None of us have forgotten about that horrific day but I do believe that once a tragedy passes that over time everyone gets back into their normal way of life.  Which is good; however, the simple kindnesses should still be present.  The way you express your love to your family and friends should still be prevalent and having a loving and giving heart to those in need.

The people of the US pull together when hurricanes, tornadoes and other tragedies strike as a whole.  Do not forget the simple acts of kindness right in your own home, office, neighborhood, church etc.  You may have no idea of how your smile or kind word may change someone else's life.  You may ask yourself how can I make a difference?  Well, simple acts of kindness that are sincere & from the heart without expecting anything else in return.  Here's great video that sums it all up.

Cost, Benefits, What about a BONUS?!

Yesterday I shared about 10 very important traits to living an abundant life.  Today in my You tube video I share about how everything has a cost and a benefit but wouldn't it be great to get a bonus as well?!  This is a wonderful vehicle to creating financial abundance in your life that you can pass down from generation to generation.

Vitalizer!
http://images.shaklee.com/video/show.php?video=Vitalizer

I wanted to stress that one of the points I made about Vitalizer wasn't correct.   I meant to say that it's the best nutritional supplement base to start with rather than saying 'it's all the nutrients you need for the day'.  Obviously you need the proper food nutrients and fluids to balance your diet.  Unfortunately, most of our foods are lacking the vital nutrients that we need.  That's why we have Vitalizer!  Please watch the Vitalizer video above to learn all the wonderful benefits it has to offer and it's patented delivery system so that the right nutrients get to the right place at the right time.

Secondly, in regards to the member referral program.  You may earn as many credits as possible throughout the month.  Let's say you earn 300.  You may redeem 250 per month as I mentioned and the other 50 just stays in your bank until you are ready to use it.  Your credits can continue to accumulate.

Let me know if you can join me this Saturday night the 27th for 'Super Saturday' at 7PM here in Fort Collins.  I'm ready to get this party started!  Come join me!  Also if you have a favorite non-profit (5013C) I can help you raise funds for them as well.

Robin

Traits for a Life of Abundance!

Wow!  It’s late!  Have you ever made a commitment with a deadline and then thought oh, it can wait until tomorrow?  Tomorrow comes, and then something else comes up… but this, but that, but, but, but…  What about with your children, husband or friends?  It may be something simple as telling your child you’ll read to them at bedtime but something else comes up and it doesn’t happen.  Do you make the choice to stop what you are doing to keep your commitment?  We need to show our family and friends that we say what we mean and mean what we say!
Well, I made a commitment to share about having a Life of Abundance on Robin’s Reality to be posted yesterday or today.  All the ‘buts’ came up today; however, I kept my commitment!  This is a ‘READING’ from one of my favorite books titled ‘The Compassionate Samurai – Being Extraordinary in an Ordinary World’ by Brian Klemmer.  I encourage you to buy the book because you will gain so much from it and want to share it with everyone!
Klemmer and Associates have several seminars and if you happen to be in the Colorado Springs area this weekend they are having a Personal Mastery starting on Friday night and ending on Sunday night.  They are AWESOME!  Don’t you want to figure out from within yourself what is keeping you from the life you always wanted?  Go to www.klemmer.com for more information and other cities where you can attend a workshop.
I am a continual work in progress.  Grab a cup of coffee or tea with breakfast and sit back and enjoy the reading.

Much Love,
Robin

You are One Choice away from changing YOUR LIFE!

We all have our 'Stories'...  situations and life experiences.  Our past will not define us though because we will not focus nor waste energy on our past.  Live in the 'NOW' and visualize the future!  Do Not Give Up! Appreciate where you are in life and look for ways to grow & move forward!  If your experiences can help someone else move forward in life, then share them but do not dwell on them.

Today I was in my conventional garden and shared a very small part of 'my story' and choices that I have made in my life to move forward.  I am a work in progress and will continue to move forward in my journey with much passion, vitality and love within my life.  YOU too are One Choice away from changing YOUR LIFE!  Below is my video blog.  Please feel free to share.  :)

Don't we all need some extra coins? It's not going to come from Washington!

My gosh, with everything happening in Washington right now and no certainty, where does that leave us?  Well, if you knew that you could help yourself & other families financially, and have better health would do you do it?  If you had the opportunity to make some extra money with a little work, would you do it?  Would you like a company to give you $225.00-$250.00 per month for your car payment on top of your earnings and other bonuses?  I don't think there are many companies that do that and for certain we're not getting any bonuses from Washington right now!

I don't know about you but I haven't had a full time job since May of 2010.  Mind you I've been applying for full time jobs without having success.  I have plenty of experience and a college education but that doesn't really matter much anymore...  I love what I do by helping others with my reflexology business and I desire to have a more stable income.  I love working with Be Young Essential Oils and I desire to have a more stable income.

Shaklee offers an opportunity like no other company I've ever seen!  They've been in business for over 55 years and have more clinical trials and patents than any other nutritional company!  Their products are 100% guaranteed...  they always work, are always safe and are always green.  Whether you are looking for: green cleaning & laundry products that are safe to be around your family and children, pure nutritional supplements and sports nutrition without harmful chemicals, healthy weight management and healthy beauty products. Shaklee is there for you.

They provide so much education and support not just at the beginning of starting your business but throughout!  The couple that signed me up with Shaklee have been in the business for over 30 years and are very successful.  There are people who just joined 6 months ago that are successful because of the Fast Track Program.

High in the hills of Midway, Utah

At the beginning of the month I was able to attend the 'Be Young Essential Oils' Convention in Midway, UT!  It's amazing to learn how beneficial pure, organic and wild-crafted essential oils are and how so vital they are to our daily living!  I diffuse them, apply them topically and take them orally.  I also use Be Young Essential Oils in my line of handmade organic products called Sweetie Chey Pie Essentials.

Be Young is the only line of essential oils that are E.O.B.B.D. certified pure and have testing done by 3rd parties verifying the quality!

Dana Young, PhD. introduced the M.A.T. (Meridian Aromatic Touch) with 3 new oil blends to use with it - Yang to energize, Yin, to calm down, and Governing, to balance the Meridians.  Used in combination with other single oils and blends, they can assist every organ in the body.

He also introduced a new essential oil pack called the P.S.M. designed to reprogram the cells to function properly with correct information

P = Essential Oil formula with Phenylpropaoids which cleans the cell's receptor sites.

S = Essential Oil formula with Sesqueterpens, which erases the cell's erroneous code.

M = Essential Oil formula with Monoterpens, which rewrites a new healthy code.

Dr. Whiting introduced Smart Cleanse, a variety of herbal extracts and concentrated fibers to obtain maximum detoxification. It is essential to detoxify all the organs of elimination.  The formula includes: psyllium, aloe powder, bentonite, celery, cascara sagrada, irish moss, peppermint, senna leaf, anise, ginger, turkey rhubarb root, acidophilus, and bromelain.

He spoke on the importance of taking charge of your life by eating exactly what your body type needs. (Metabolic type) Our Be Fit program is the healthiest weight management choice you can make. It allows for cheating (which people do anyways), has essential oil support in the Be Fit Blend and the single oil grapefruit, has meal replacements, has support from Dr. Whiting or his staff, and supports you in taking charge of your own health.

Dr. Judi Gerstung informed us of the dangers of endocrine disruption and showed us a video, called "The Male Predicament" that brought most of us to tears. You can view it on:
www.endocrinedisruption.org You can find it in the "What's New" section from "Link to Videos."

She also talked about "Solution to Cellular Pollution" encouraging us to take charge in the one way we can, choose carefully what we put into our mouths and onto our skin. Be Young products are toxin free.  Shop from my Be Young store to participate in the solution to cellular pollution.

Dr. Kevin Price spoke on collecting data from satellites on crops to know the developmental state of the plants. Geographic location, climate, soils, land management, social influences, and genetics all influence plant chemical makeup.  This means the essential oil quality will vary depending on the geographic area from which the plants are harvested. Plant growth stage at the time of harvest also influences oil qualities.

Dr. Winn recommended Be Young's tooth gel, Kiss (Dana and he are co-formulators)as the cleanest and safest mouth care product available on the market.  It is the only one he uses on himself and his clients.

Frank Spindler went over the nutritional qualities of Masaji and made all of us drinking it very glad that we do. He noted that Australian Spirulina is known to absorb radiation, which is something that we all need to know with our current global environment.

Masaji's synergistic formulas capabilities of removing toxic metals, strengthening bones, boost the immune system, make healthy DNA, lower bad cholesterol, enhance nutrients, improve short term memory, combat viruses, destroy free radicals, offer best brain food, provide energy, reduce oxidative stress, increase night vision, stimulate the T cells, inhibit pre-cancerous cells, relieve depression and anxiety, and raise the body's frequency.

It was a wonderful learning experience in which I look forward to attending next year.  It's great to be around like minded people who have the desire to not only better their health but the health of others!

Please let me know how I may support you in learning about choosing health for yourself and your family!  robin@robinjonesreflexology.com

A FRIEND IN NEED

I wasn't planning on blogging today but felt this was important to share.

My friend's mother, Loretta Pisano, posted this on FB.  "Today is 8 years since my son Steve had his accident & spinal cord injury. He has gone thru many struggles physically, emotionally & spiritually. I admire him so much for his strength, achievements & faith. He now needs a new van. If anyone is able to help him financially it would be wonderful & so appreciated by both of us. His address is: Steve Pisano P.O. Box 725 Fraser CO 80442"

I've known Steve for 11 years now.  He was my neighbor for around 7 years in Fraser before I moved to Fort Collins.  He is a wonderful man that has been an encouragement and blessing to so many people including myself.  You can learn more about him at his website:  www.stevepisano.com  If you are able to help him with this goal, that would be great.  Your prayers that his goal would be reached would be appreciated too!

Thanks so much for your time!
Much Love,
Robin

Climbing the Colorado 14ers

I have four friends that love climbing the 14ers (mountains at or above 14,000 feet) of Colorado!  Kathee finished all 54 several years back.  Major finished last year, Tom has two more to go and Matt has seven left.  Me??  Ha!  I like hiking in the mountains in the trees that open up to beautiful meadows filled with flowers and cascading waterfalls.  The only place I'll be near the Tundra is in my truck!

Matt paired his love of climbing with photography and a favorite past time he shared with his grandfather and the rest of his family.  It's a great story that Major King, news reporter for Denver Channel7 News compiled together to share.  Matt, Tom, Major's daughter Kayla, and myself are in this news story along with Matt sharing the history of how it all got started.  There's also a few spots with Major & Tom climbing as well.

Please take a few moments to watch this short clip and feel free to pass it on.

Remember, it's not ALL about reaching the top of the mountain.  It's the journey along the way.  IT'S THE CLIMB!

Much love,
Robin

Simple words can have such meaning...

Back in May I blogged about a quick trip home to OK.  One thing I shared was about the graduation of my cousin's son, Joshua.  He received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy.  I received a Thank You note from him in the mail yesterday that really touched my heart...

"You've been there for me as far back as I can remember.  Even as a child, I remember you motivating me to be something great, a life-changer, a leader.  I only hope I've made you proud.  I'm so lucky to have such supportive family providing unconditional love and motivation."

My cousin Suzanne is a single mother and raised Joshua by herself.  So Joshua, how you are is so much of how your mother poured her love, time and energy into you.  I've been blessed to see your relationship and how close the two of you are.  I also know that you tell your mother on a regular basis how much you appreciate her.  Yes, you are lucky to have extended family who were there to support you as well and I am very grateful that I could be a part of that.  That same extended family was, and still is such a great support to me as well!

I am sharing this because you may not realize how powerful your words are whether they are positive or negative...  Be careful with your words and how you say them.  (I'm still learning this...)  Complement freely and frequently!  Praise your children and your spouse.  Tell them you appreciate and love them on a regular basis.  Positive words can do so much!  Unfortunately, so can negative ones...

I left OK almost 12 years ago when Joshua was in high school so I didn't have the opportunity to be around him that much except for quick visits back home.  I feel like I've missed out of being a larger part of his life by not living there.  I do remember encouraging him and loving on him but never really knew how much he took in.  So Joshua, to address your thoughts about hoping if I made you proud, the answer is YES!  I am proud that you got your doctorate, but more importantly for the young man you have become with such great character, integrity, compassion and love for others.  YOU will touch many lives!

All My Love,

Robin

Random thoughts/events on a Sunday

I decided to attend the 11:30 service this morning.  I walked in during the 1st praise & worship song and the usher asked if I would like to sit closer to the front.  I said sure and he took me to the very front row!  Ugh, I thought...  I don't like being that close to the front.  I got over it quickly as praise and worship was great. :)

The message was about do we listen to Jesus or our culture.  Trust that He knows everything, has my best interest at heart even if I don't understand it and trust that He can change my life.  It was also about true authentic love for one another meaning that I'm going to spend myself for your good which is difficult to do.

Here's my thoughts.  The above is all fine and good as authentic love is that you love another unconditionally by accepting them for who they are faults and all.  It is ones heart's desire to help that person be all that they can be as it should be the same for them as well towards you.  Wow!  How awesome would that be if everyone looked at each other as a precious gift and treated each other as such!

Their solution was this:  'I need someone to love me who has no need of me' and they are referring to Jesus.  This is good but I wanted to share that it is ok to want/need relationship with others as God created us that way.  I've been in church most of my life and in high school it seemed to be repeated over and over again  that all you need is Jesus so when I felt the desire to be in a relationship I would feel guilty.  It's been that way for me for years until just last year.  Now, I am not saying rush out to find any type of relationship.  Always keep in mind though that it is better to be by yourself than to be in a relationship with a person that does not respect you and treat you well.

Yes, we do need Jesus or to believe in something that is greater than ourselves whatever that looks like for you.  Hear my words...  It is normal and healthy to desire to be loved and to give love.  Do not ever let anyone tell you that ALL you need is Jesus or Buddha or whomever or whatever you believe in.  We need human companionship and touch.

Ok, so much for the serious thought of the day! :)

I'm not much of a junk food person but on occasion I'll stop by the Sonic for a treat because as you know today is National Ice Cream Day!  As I'm waiting, a girl and her horse, yes I said horse,  walks up beside me and places their order. Ice cream for her and water for the horse.  I loved it!  You should have seen all the looks and smiles she was getting.  I started a conversation with her.  Katrina is the proud owner of a 4 year old Paint named Drifter who happens to have one blue eye and one brown eye.  He was gorgeous!  This is her first horse in which she's been training him for the last two years.  She's getting ready in the next couple of weeks to head up into the moutains for a 3 day adventure wtih him.  I wish you could have seen her face, the way she talked about Drifter and the way that she looked at him.  "He's my baby", she said.  I completely understood her as I am the same way about my Cheyenne girl.

I mentioned in a previous post about taking a different route or going at a different time and being open to the possibilities.  Who knows, you may just meet a girl, on a horse, at your local Sonic Drive In.

Love yourself, be yourself, give of yourself!

Much Love,
Robin

Even Cheyenne wants some extra company every now and then!  :)

LEARNING TO DANCE IN THE RAIN

Sometimes life just brings us things/events/circumstances, etc. that we may just not expect...   Sometimes we don't understand the meaning behind it, what to learn from it or simply 'Why did this happen?'.

I came across this short clip today about gratitude titled 'Learning to Dance in the Rain'.  I enjoyed it so much that I wanted to share it with  you.  I don't know your situation or circumstance nor do you know mine but I do know that how we approach our situations can change our entire mindset in how to process and work through them.   http://www.danceintherainmovie.com/

Living at 8,770 feet for ten years in the mountains of Colorado I became used to winter being the longest season.  Summers were mild with cooling afternoon showers.  Fall is my favorite time of year and way too short lived!  Now that I live in Fort Collins I have the opportunity to experience all four seasons; however, with that comes more severe weather.  I can handle lots of snow but what's been difficult for me is the thunder and lightning storms because of what may follow... tornado's.

I'm an Oklahoma girl and grew up with tornado's around me but have never been in one.  Tornado's don't usually occur in the mountains so I never thought about them.  Anytime the weather gets bad here I'm on my computer looking at the radar loop and listening to the weather.  No different from when I lived in OK.  I guess I just got comfortable living at that high altitude because it offered some type of safety to me in all ways of my life;  however, I was not living to my fullest within that safety net.

Where in life do you want change but you are so comfortable that change creates fear within you?  Are you willing to be uncomfortable to attain whatever your dreams may be?   I went through a series of seminars with Klemmer & Associates last summer & fall.  It's all about learning the potential from within yourself and making choices to move forward in your life.  If you're interested in learning more, their website is http://www.klemmer.com/.  You can also check out some books by Brian Klemmer.  I am wrapping up 'The Compassionate Samurai - Being Extraordinary in an Ordinary World' by Brian and it's probably one of the best books I've ever read!

Life is a journey, a process, an adventure... life is LOVE!  We all have fears that we can work through...  Won't you join me in Learning to Dance in the Rain??

Much Love,
Robin

Thunder, lightning and hail storm on Wednesday.  No damage to my truck but I did have some damage to some of my plants and veggies in my garden...  I'm expecting the plants to bounce back just fine!

Duke & Duchess of Cambridge

The Royal Couple made it to the US today!  Too bad they're not coming to Colorado!  Although it's been just over two months since their wedding I wanted to share some photos from the SUNDAY Mirror from Friday, April 29, 2011.  The newspaper put together a special souvenir of the marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton and included a double sided photo.  My friends JJ and Maz who live in Luton, UK, knew how excited I was over the wedding so they sent me a copy!

Yes, I know I could purchase a copy of 'TIME' of that special day but I feel very lucky to have the local newspaper.  Thank you for being so thoughtful JJ & Maz!!  I love and appreciate you both!

Organic Horse Trough Garden Update

My friend JJ said it was time for an update on the garden, so here it is!  It's been five weeks since I put the horse trough organic garden together!  I've added some other plants and will note it under the pictures.  In the horse trough I've got: Bok Choi, Broccoli, Basil, Sweet Pepper, Yellow Pepper, Green Pepper, Eggplant, Burpless Cucumber, Zucchini Squash and Gold Bar Squash.  Yes, it is somewhat crowded.  My plan is to take the vines as they grow and drape them over the trough.  Let's hope it works out ok!  I also added earth worms to the soil one week after I did the planting as their castings are a great fertilizer.

I have thoroughly enjoyed taking care of the garden and watching it grow.  It's fun!  It may seem like something simple, but I enjoy the simple things...  This is also my first garden so I am rather excited about it!  There were several plants in my garden that were damaged in the bad hail storm several weeks back.  I wasn't quite sure if they were going to make it or not.  I am happy to say that they have thrived!

I hope that you take time to enjoy the simple pleasures in life!  I also hope that when the storms come and you experience some heart, ego, physical, mental or spiritual damage, that you will know that you are not alone.  Seek support from a friend, a mentor, your family and your Lord.  I promise, in due time, you too will grow & thrive again.  HOPE... always hope and believe in yourself how valuable and precious you really are!

Much Love,
Robin
