I was on FB just a few moments ago and came across the video below. Regardless of what your political views or thoughts on war may be I hope that you take the time to view this. Leann Rimes does a beautiful job singing Amazing Grace.
I feel that sometimes as Americans we can be somewhat disconnected at times. We watch the evening news and see what's happening around the world but may not experience the depth of it unless it touches close to home through the loss of a loved one. Our military, past and present, have chosen to make a difference in the lives of others all around the world. They have given of themselves and left their families at home to make a difference. Think about it if your spouse was away for long periods of time missing the daily life of watching their children grow up and for their marriage relationship to flourish. That's a sacrifice. Then if they don't get to come home again??? That's a sacrifice.
Please say a prayer for the past and present service men and women and their families. Look around at your family today and be thankful that you can be together as a family because of the sacrifice of others. If you know someone in the military, call them and let them know you appreciate them. My father served in the Air Force in Korea during peace time in the 60's prior to getting married and having a family. He's a wonderful man and I am so blessed to have him as a father! I love you dad!
Go hug on your family now!

Horse Trough Organic Garden
Have you ever done something that you have no clue what you are doing but you go for it anyway? That's exactly what I did! :) For years I've wanted to have my own organic garden but didn't live at the right altitude or have the space to do it. This year, I was all over it!
It's funny to get the reactions from people when you ask for help. I had purchased a 'Living Social' coupon for $17.00 that gave me $40.00 in product from the Fort Collins Nursery. I picked out some nice organic veggies but needed soil. I told the guy that I didn't know what I was doing but that I wanted an organic garden. He just stared at me for a moment and I simply said 'you got to start somewhere don't ya?' He smiled and agreed. He proceeded to tell me about how much space various veggies would take and I began handing them back to him... We narrowed it down to a few and then went on to pick out the soil.
I wanted to start with excellent soil because as you know your veggies will only be as nutritious as your soil. I thought about large pots but just wasn't feeling right about it. I love horses and thought I'll use a horse trough! I found a document on line that was really complicated and so I modified it to do it "Robin's Way". For those of you who know me I'm sure you're laughing now as "Robin's Way" doesn't always work out but I always have fun trying and laugh at myself in the process. Again, you don't know how anything will turn out if you don't try... If you fail, so what?!
I found my galvanized trough at JAX Ranch & Feed. My friend Cheryl helped me unload everything from my truck and we got it to the backyard with the help of her daughters wagon. (Thank you Cheryl!) I began by drilling 4-5 holes close together to make a larger hole in the bottom of the trough for drainage. I did 16 total large holes. I then put down 1 bag of river rocks to place the trough on. Next I put small plastic containers that I got out of the recycle bin at the nursery into the trough making sure not to cover up the drainage holes. I then put another bag of river rocks around the pots. The purpose of this is to help with drainage.
I began with compost and then moistened potting mix and alternated throughout. I added more water and mixed as I went. Kind of fun playing in the mud! Then the rain and hail came! I waited it out and got right back to work. I ended up having to go to Lowes to get more compost because it just wasn't high enough in the trough. I still had potting soil left so I'm hoping that balance will be ok. I then planted my veggies! Below are pictures of the process. I'll keep you posted on how the garden grows. :)
If you want 'produce' in your life then you have to produce yourself! Get rid of the belief system that you can't do something if you've never tried it before. Don't TRY something, JUST DO IT! As I said above, if you fail, who cares because you know what, you're going to fail again. If you talk to people who are successful, you'll probably find that they failed numerous times before they succeeded. If you should fail after you succeed, what are you going to do? 'PRODUCE' yourself again and again and again. That doesn't mean to work harder or longer, just smarter... Create it a different way, ask for help or advice but don't give up! Don't forget to enjoy the journey along the way!
Much love,
Robin

Family
First I wanted to say my heart is heavy and saddened by the tornado that struck Joplin, MO last night. I have friends that I went to college with at Ozark Christian that still live there. The devastation is horrible and my heart and prayers go out to everyone...
I was able to go back to OK to see my family for a few days over Mother's Day weekend. My parents and I along with my aunt and uncle met at the Pink House in Claremore that was built in 1902. Mom and I had High Tea which is one of my favorites fun things to do.
My nephew Eric turned 11 and loves Go Karts so that's what we did for his birthday. I tell him he looks like a mini Steve Nash except cuter! The first pic. is of Eric, the 2nd is my dad and that's me in the 3rd shot.
My cousin's son Josh graduated with his doctorate in physical therapy from OU/Tulsa. I used to babysit him! I am so proud of the young man that he has become. The first pic. is of Josh and his mother Suzanne. The 2nd is of Josh and I and the 3rd are my two cousins Suzanne and Kellie.
I feel truly blessed to have a wonderful relationship with my parents. Suzanne and Kellie are not just my cousins they are true friends to me and although we don't see each other often we pick right up where we left off last. I was able to see both of my brothers families as well but didn't have the quality time I would have liked to spend with them. I have four amazing nieces as well!
Wow! So much devastation in the world this year... Make an effort to communicate with those that you love and let them know how much you appreciate them. Life is short and goes by so fast. If you need to make amends, then take that first step in doing so.
Much Love,
Robin

Happy 2nd Birthday Cheyenne!!!
Cheyenne and I celebrated her birthday yesterday! My dog is very special to me. She's not just a dog, she's my girl! She adds so much joy, love and fun to my life. How can one not smile or feel a sense of calmness and peace when they have a pet?
Last year on her birthday I was in the process of packing up my apartment in Fraser and did not celebrate. So this year I wanted to have some fun! I went to the dollar store and spent $3.00 for balloons, hats and her dog toy that says 'My Love'. The toy was perfect because I'm always saying to her 'My Love'. I have several names for her: Sweetie, Chey (pronounced shy), Chey Pie and finally put it all together for Sweetie Chey Pie! She walks like Rudolph in the cartoon so I sometimes call her that.
Cheyenne is such a wonderful girl and I feel so blessed to have her in my life! Don't forget the pets in your life as they need and deserve your time too. :)
Robin
My camera is not working properly right now so I'm using a recorder to takes pics so they are not as clear as I would like them to be. I didn't not want to take pics though! The first 2 pics I took before she got groomed and the last two I took after I brought her home. I think she's cute either way! I hope she brings a smile to your face...

Supporting your liver may just be the missing key to your optimum health!
This diverse organ has well over 300 different functions! It is the first line of defense against any poisons - it's role is to change harmful toxins into substances that can be safely eliminated from the body. In addition, all the nourishment obtained through the gastrointestinal tract enters the blood by way of the liver.
The liver secretes vital digestive juices that help properly digest food and cleanse the blood. Pesticides, polluted air, water and soil are inhaled or absorbed daily. Our exposure to toxins is increased by our use of steroids, medications, smoking, over-indulgence of alcohol, poor food choices & not drinking enough fresh clean water.
With the help of our liver we naturally expel the metabolic by-products & toxins produced from the regular functioning and metabolism of our bodies. The liver also has a profound effect on the hormonal system, helping to regulate and balance hormonal activity to ensure the proper functioning of our neurological system.
With the prevalence of synthetic foods, nutrient deficient foods and the environmental pollution of our air and water, our liver is working harder than ever to detoxify our body & regulate healthy metabolic activity. Many different poor health symptoms can result from a liver that is overloaded with toxins and undernourished, including:
One of the best kept secrets in weight loss and lasting weight control is keeping the liver, the key organ for fat metabolism, in tip-top shape. Ann Louise Gittleman, author of The Fat Flush Plan, says "Probably nothing you do to control your weight is as important as keeping your liver healthy. This means avoiding as many of the damaging elements (like alcohol) as possible, while embracing liver boosters. Among some of the lesser known compromisers of liver function are caffeine, sugar, trans fats, medications, and inadequate fiber."
Now that you have learned all of the above are you ready to:
Liver Cleansing Foods
Besides the daily ritual of the Be Young Liver Cleanse, drinking plenty of clean water, as well as eating liver-cleansing foods on a daily basis are also important steps to take! Fresh, organic eggs, plenty of fresh organic vegetables, and especially vegetables such as broccoli, Brussels' sprouts & kale are great! Garlic, onion and ginger root help support metabolism and reduce toxin buildup.
I cannot guarantee results with any other essential oil other than Be Young. There have been others who have tried this cleanse using oils from other companies or health food stores who had to go to the emergency room because they burned their esophagus. Not all essential oils are the same! They may claim to be organic and pure but I encourage you to do your research on the brand you use. The difference with Be Young Essential Oils are that they are 100% pure, organic or wild-crafted. Before oils are accepted for use, they must meet exacting standards for: growing, species selection, farming, harvesting, distillation & testing by 3rd party professionals using a process known as (E.O.B.B.D) Essential Oils Botanically & Bio-chemically Defined to certify their purity. I trust no other name for essential oils other than Be Young. I used a very popular company before switching to Be Young. Once I did my research and used the Be Young Oils, there was no comparison. I am honored to be a part of a company that believes we are led together with a purpose to share these gifts from nature with integrity, honesty & commitment to you that these oils are the very best nature can provide.
**IMPORTANT** If you are currently taking medication for high blood pressure you would want to replace the peppermint oil with spearmint as peppermint can increase your blood pressure.

Life is for LIVING!
Life is for living! It's about loving, giving and RECEIVING. Can you except help with graciousness? Can someone offer you a gift without you feeling guilty? It's ok to receive! Embrace it and be thankful for it. You are WORTHY and by accepting with graciousness you are allowing that person to give freely and abundantly. Do not allow the phrase 'it's better to give than to receive' keep you from enjoying that gift, whether the gift is: time, advice, friendship, money, lunch, an item or whatever it may be. No guilt needed. Just say thank you.
Have a blessed day!

Chemistry
So many thoughts running through my mind right now. I’m sure all of us have met someone or have been introduced to someone by a friend that is absolutely wonderful but for some reason you don’t feel a connection or any type of attraction. Then you may question yourself as to why you don’t feel anything and if you go back to your core and say well love is not a feeling it’s a commitment and then you may be confused.
People choose to date a particular person initially because there is some sort of an attraction there whether it be their outgoing personality, how they encourage others, how they take care of themselves, etc. Then you find out about the commonalities, interests, etc. and a friendship begins to unfold. We all know that a relationship will not succeed by on how someone looks and how that person may make you feel at that particular time, but I personally believe there has to be some sort of chemistry. Look at it this way for couples that are already married. Did you go through your courtship and eventually your wedding day thinking this person is wonderful but I just don’t feel attracted to them? If you did and you married them anyway I feel sorry for your spouse. Weren’t your feelings more like I am the luckiest man or woman in the world because this person has chosen me and I have chosen them?

If you did and you married them anyway I feel sorry for your spouse. Weren’t your feelings more like I am the luckiest man or woman in the world because this person has chosen me and I have chosen them?
Any relationship has ups and downs and you may feel that you’re not ‘in love’ anymore. This is where the love is not a feeling it’s a commitment comes in. You chose to commit to that person for better or worse and because of that you choose to stay in the relationship because even though you may not ‘FEEL’ like you love that person you CHOSE to love them. It’s not a matter of thinking you’re stuck like some of society looks at it. It’s an opportunity for growth to happen, to look at the relationship from all angles to see how better communication and expressions of love can happen. Look at that beautiful person in front of you and ask them 'What can I do to contribute to your life, dreams, goals and our marriage?'. Have a servant heart and see what will happen!
If you’re asking, well Robin, how would you know, you’ve never been married. You’re right. But in my 42 years of living, I have loved and lost though. I was the top student in my Marriage and Family class in high school my senior year and I went on to get a B.S. in Family Studies & Gerontology. I’ve read numerous books on relationships and even used to lead a video series by Tommy Nelson out of Denton Bible called the Song of Solomon. After awhile I chose to not lead the study anymore because none of my relationships succeeded.
At this point in my life, I look at it this way. I have dating/life experience. If someone can learn from what I share or realize that they are not alone, then it's a blessing for my voice to be heard. I know what it’s like to: like someone else and know you have so much in common and they’re simply not attracted to you, to be rejected when they find out you can only walk 1 ¾ laps around a track before you start to waddle and then just can’t walk even though it was over a year after your 2nd car accident, to have a guy not understand that you have to take your medication at a certain time and be in bed at a certain time so that you’re not in pain the entire following day, to be pursued only because of what you look like on the outside and not even trying to bother to get to know the woman from within, to have a high school coach pursue you for several years and get fired because of you & then have the majority of the high school turn on you because he was such a popular teacher & coach, to be physically/verbally/mentally abused by a man that claimed to be a Christian, to be pursued and then to withdraw to pursue to withdraw, etc., and lastly I’ve been told that real love doesn’t exist and relationships never work so just live in the moment.
WOW! Is that a lot of ‘Story’ or what? Yes, but it’s my story and because of my story I have been able to help others along the way because of experiences, and I have now chosen to share more about it because I believe when hurting people hear or see your life experiences they are more apt to open up and realize they are not alone. I grew up in a loving family and a wonderful church family but when things like the above are happening people including myself choose not to share and ultimately feel alone. YOU ARE NOT ALONE & DO NOT BE AFRAID OR ASHAMED TO SEEK HELP!
Timing. I am happy to say that I am in great health and that I can walk further than I have in years after my hip surgery a year ago in March. I'm still not where I desire to be physically but continue to see great progress. I started my training with Klemmer & Associates (The Premier Leadership & Character Development Company – www.klemmer.com) last August & attended ‘Heart of the Samurai in October. Yesterday I mailed my final requirements for my National Board Certification in Reflexology and yesterday I started my blog. J Today, I will post this note. Today I commit to continue moving forward in my life to achieve the desires of my heart.
Chemistry will look & feel differently for everyone as we are all different and unique ourselves. What one person may find attractive, another person may not and you know what, that’s ok…
Much Love,
Robin
Below are some pictures I wanted to share. The first one is June of 2006 when I went to see my very good friend Tara in Victoria, BC. This was 15 months after her car accident & 10 months after mine. We have been a great support to each other over the years! The 2nd picture was taken in June 2008 by another good friend of mine, Steve Pisano. He did a photo shoot for me to celebrate my turning 40! The last picture is from October of 2010 just 7 days after returning from Heart. I've come a long way in my progress since the 2006 picture!
